FAQ

What are the benefits of a hand knotted necklace?

  •  A knotted necklace is safe and secure. If it should get caught and break, you may only lose 1-2 bead maximum instead of the whole lot.
  • The knots will stop the beads from rubbing or wearing against each other, so decreasing the likelihood of damage or even breakage.
  • A knotted necklace gives a fantastic drape against the body and will help to accentuate each and every individual bead.

How do I care for my necklace?

  • Remove before showering or bathing, exercising, or applying lotion, perfume, or sunscreen. Silk may stretch when wet, so please keep dry, and store flat separately from other pieces to prevent stretching or tangling. Gold filled pieces are tarnish resistant, waterproof, and safe for sensitive skin.

What is the difference between gold filled and gold plated?

  • Gold-filled and gold-plated jewelry are both made by applying a thin layer of gold over a base metal.
  • The main difference is the amount of gold used:
    • Gold-filled-Contains at least 5% gold, and usually has a thicker, more standardized gold layer. Gold-filled jewelry is more durable and can last a lifetime if properly cared for. It's also safe to get wet, and isn't affected by hot weather.
    • Gold-plated-Can contain any amount of gold, but usually has a very thin layer. Gold-plated jewelry is less expensive, but may need to be re-plated over time. A small scratch on gold-plated jewelry can expose the base metal underneath.

How do I care for my earrings?

  • Polymer clay makes durable and slightly flexible earrings, however care should be given so as not bend or break earrings.
  • Store in a cool, dry place.
  • If needed, please gently clean earrings with a damp cloth. Always ensure that they are kept away from perfumes, nail polish and cleaning agents (especially those with acetone and alcohol as they may affect the surface texture of the earrings).

My earrings look different from the listing picture, what's the deal?

  • Each earring is handmade, therefore may differ slightly from the listing picture. Please know that colors may not look exactly the same from device to device in comparison to their real color. These earrings are handmade, there may be imperfections such as finger prints, uneven edges, or slight discolorations. This all adds to the uniqueness of the earrings. While I attempt to perfect each earring, things may get missed.

Why don't you accept returns?

  • Returns are handled on a case-by-case basis for necklaces, jewelry dishes, and ornaments.
  • Shipment costs for returned items, will be covered by the customer.
  • I cannot accept returns for earrings as it is unsanitary for them to be resold. If there is an issues with your earrings, please reach out and we can work together to resolve the issue.

You mentioned that you can't return earrings, because it is unsanitary to resell them, but what about your vintage/second hand earrings?

  • You make a great point! My vintage and secondhand earrings have been sanitized to reduce the likelihood of spreading pathogenic agents, but there is an inherent risk when purchasing any second hand products that I cannot control or be responsible for.
  • These earrings are clearly marked as being vintage/second hand and are sold at a reduced price due to these concerns.

Are your jewelry items appropriate for children?

  • My jewelry items are not sized for children, unless otherwise noted.
  • All of my jewelry items either contain small parts (such as beads or jump rights) or are small in size (like stud earrings), please use extra caution when using with your little ones. Small items may become choking hazards.

Do you make custom jewelry or changes to current styles at request?

  • Please reach out to me via email for any custom ideas or changes. I always try my best to accommodate these requests.
  • If a request has been accepted, please note that the processing time may be longer, so please allow for extra time. I will be in contact with any extra delays and update you when your items are ready!

I went on the website and all the earrings say sold out, how do I order?

  • Please reach out to me directly either through e-mail or Instagram (@glitter.and.glow.co). Jewelry made with vintage beads are often not able to be restocked as they are often purchased in small quantities.

I had earrings in my cart and when I went to checkout, they said “Sold Out.” Why is that?

  • This is a way that Shopify protects the seller, so even if an item is in your cart, it is not yours until checkout is completed with a form of payment.

I got makeup on my earrings, how can I remove it?

  • Getting makeup on your earrings is bound to happen. If this does happen to you, simply use a cotton swab or cotton ball with a little acetone or rubbing alcohol and gently rub the makeup off! It comes or quickly and won’t leave any residue on your earrings.

I got an email that my package has shipped, why does my tracking still say “in pre shipment?”

  • Often, USPS can take a few days to update, especially if it was sent out prior to the weekend and/or during the holidays! We recommend waiting a week and if your order remains stagnant, please reach out to us! If you ordered a made to order item and your label has printed please give the full processing time for your tracking to update! We will sometimes print labels in batches and pack are they are completed.

I have not received any status or update on my order, what is going on?

  • Shopify can only send shipment notifications via email. If there was no email put down, you will not receive tracking/shipment updates. You only receive a shipping notification once your item is getting ready to ship. Please check our processing times for info on when you should receive shipping confirmations.

How long will it take to receive my package once it has shipped?

  •  Your location will effect how long it will take to deliver. Most items arrived within 2-5 days. I am shipping from Connecticut, so keep that in mind when ordering. During the holidays,  USPS can take longer, so please allow for more times for items to be delivered. If you need something quickly, please make sure to make a note and to select priority shipping. Once USPS has accepted the package, I am no longer in control of when it will arrive.

My package says delivered but I do not see it! What should I do?

  • Please contact your local USPS and let them know. We are not liable nor responsible for the actions of USPS.

Please reach out to me directly for an additional questions that may have not been included here.
